You're Busy...
We're All Busy...
First of all, this is a bullshit excuse (one that I've told myself plenty of times too, so I'm NOT exempt from this) NOT to do something that you KNOW you need to do that will make ALL the difference in your quality of life.
Ain't that some shit? We use the excuse that we're busy to NOT do the things we KNOW we should do that will make ALL the difference in our quality of life.....What has the world come to, when we deliberately sabotage ourselves this way?
And I am sure you're thinking "What does this have to with "Meditating for Busy/Impatient People?"
Actually, it has everything to do with it. If you don't have the time to calm your mind so that you can be at peace inside yourself and don't have the time to LOVE yourself, how the hell do you ever expect your life to change?
The PEACE Seeker ... Who Never Finds
I used to recently be this type of person. I went so far as to hire a hypnotherapist who hypnotized me for more peace so that I wouldn't work and worry so much.
"WOW Alishia, did that really work?"
Yep, for about 3 months actually and it was amazing, but I knew that just like how anti depressants work, I couldn't just go to her 4 times per year to release my frantic work habit and worry, there had to be change within me, at a deeper level. And at that time I wasn't willing to really do what it took to make that change.
The change happened when I created the Life Changing Habits for 2014 list, which was an amazing story-journey all in itself.
And
I've come (in such a short amount of time) to learn to LOVE meditation and the PEACE that it gives me. So here we go and please know this isn't the same crap that you've always heard, so read it, take what you like and leave what you don't. XOXO
You're going to love this, it's more simple than you could ever imagine and I KNOW that if I can quiet my crazy loud mind, so can you.
- The space that you choose is so important ... The picture above is of my beautiful pond that I go to every morning for my "Heart Centered Morning Journey" and it was so beautiful this morning that I had to take a picture to share with you.
- Take a second to get set and just stare and breathe ... I do this with my eyes open, looking at my beautiful surroundings and when I am ready, I close my eyes.
- Get clear about what you want to HEAR or FEEL ... I tend to focus on how far away I can hear dogs barking, birds and people laughing. Sometimes I focus on how many different types of birds I can hear or how many birds there are, anything that invokes the feeling of PEACE!
- When you're ready ... close your eyes
There's two ways that I tend to Meditate:
- I close my eyes and say Thank (when I breathe in) and You (when I breathe out). I do this 20 total times for the entire phrase "Thank You" or it's 20 times for each word. *Hint, so that I don't get side-tracked on counting I gently use my fingers to help me keep track by gently moving a finger each time I say the phrase "Thank You". This will help take you deep and you will feel SOOOO refreshed when you're done.
- I close my eyes and say "Thank You" as I breathe in and "Thank You" as I breathe out. This way will go faster than the way before, but you will still get so much peace from it. This is the way I started out meditating, but enjoy the slower version MORE because it give me MORE time for MORE peace.
Now, I choose to listen to my surroundings when I meditate on my "Heart-Centered Morning Journey" but if I need a quick release at home I put on my headphones, turn on ocean waves radio on Pandora and still do the "Thank You" exercise. I have to drown out my family and all the chaos of the house and this radio station gives me the birds, peace and water sounds I need.. Soon I will have my own Tibetan Singing Bowls, Waterfall and HUGE Love Sac for My Office that will be the perfect space... COME ON BIRTHDAY! (Trust Me, I will be blogging about that too)
I do tend to sit up straighter, but you can lay, or slouch or stand, whatever floats your boat, it's about YOU and what works best for YOU to find your INNER PEACE.
