Wait, before we go into this, I want to let you know that this email is pretty long, however it will be worth it, so grab some coffee or wine and hang out with me for a minute…
I PROMISE – YOU HAVE TIME FOR THIS!
Here’s what my days looked like:
- Wake up – Check FB messages and email
- Shower – Like the speed of light
- Go straight to work for 12-14 hours
- Crash out asleep exhausted from the day
- Wake-Up & Repeat for 6-7 days a week
We are talking like 1-hour tops the whole day to eat and go to the bathroom
I worked like this every day for two-ish weeks … Before that, I worked like this ALL THE TIME, it was my way of life (except I did go to the spa, get my nails done and get my hair done so I could reset).
Then, I went on a little getaway with my hubbubs, because I had been working so much that I KNEW we weren’t going to be able to grow and get to where WE wanted to be with such a huge disconnection 14 hours a day.
On this getaway I was talking to him about what my dream life would be like…
Well, that was born during this talk on the getaway.
Anyways, I poured out to him everything that I “wished” I was doing with our life and how I “wished” we were living.
He said, “Why don’t we live like that? I mean, that’s why we worked so hard to get here, right”
And then I said to myself “Yeah, why don’t I live like that”
Then my mind started running…
- Because you have a ton of stuff to do for work, if you only worked 4 hours a day you would NEVER get it done in time.
- You don’t have time to eat dinner with your family, you’ve got work to do
- You cannot take 3 baths a week, you have a deadline to meet
- You cannot go on a monthly getaway, vacay’s with the kids, date nights every week, me days every week etc…You will NEVER get everything you need to, done.
Have you ever had thoughts like these?
Well, I wasn’t going to just settle for all those “Negative” thoughts and I decided that when we got home from our getaway, I was going to do things differently…
AND I DID!
Here is what my new schedule looked like:
- Each morning self help stuff to get me started right (NO PHONE)
- Shower & Eat Breakfast
- Start Work at 12 noon until 4pm
- Cook dinner with Daniel at 4
- Eat dinner at the table as a family at 5
- Kids clean up kitchen while we all talk and laugh
- Family game time around 530-645
- 645-8PM (Tues, Thurs, Sun) Bath Time
- All other days, do whatever the hell I want during that time (I made a list of whatever the hell I want things to go to so I wouldn’t fill that time with work)
- Cuddle time with hubbubs at 8PM
Understand, I went from working 14 hours per day to THIS SCHEDULE!
At first it was hard to stay on track – Old habits die-hard
So I went over on time here and there, but mostly I stayed on…WOOT, GO ME!
Then guess what happened…
I fell completely off for 5 freakin days, I was so pissed and frustrated by this, UGHBALLS!
All right, now that you are caught up in a nutshell – Let me share what the Wisdom part of this is really all about today.
My schedule had been off since Thursday – Started my period on Friday and felt like death for 2 days ß like need to go to the emergency room type pain.
Come Monday I was back to normal and it was time for me to get back on schedule, right?
WRONG!
The day started out weird, I felt shitty and just didn’t want to work so I was off-track all day.
Not to mention that I decided that it was time for me to start walking and drinking more water (I had made the decision to add some small changes for my health).
Overall, it just wasn’t a good day – Schedule was NOT followed.
However, on my walk that Monday morning, I was listening to an audio book called Spirit Junkie and she was talking about asking my ING (inner guidance) for help and to guide me.
So I did, I thought “What the hell, it won’t hurt anything to ask myself for help”
I expected my ING to help me THAT DAY!
But as I’ve said, Monday just was a no good day for me…And I wasn’t even listening for help, so if it was presented, I didn’t hear or see it anyways.
Enter Tuesday…
It started off rockin’
- Woke up feeling great......CHECK!
- Listened to Anthony Robbins...CHECK!
- Shower & Ate...CHECK!
- Got on my team meeting...CHECK!
- Did my morning meeting with Shasta...CHECK!
- Rocked out 4 amazing hours of work...CHECK!
- Did my end of day call with Shasta...CHECK!
This is where it starts to go off track with that I want in my heart…
The meeting that started the morning was about where we are on the track for Rockstar 2.0, all that still needed to get done and who needed to do what, when.
So it kind of had me all amped up for the day, which was good…
The thing that got me all stressed out was my end of day call with Shasta
It reminded me about all that I have to get done before next week for some big things we’re doing – And this is in addition to the 4-hour workdays that I already have.
It cannot be added to them or else I will get behind on the Rockstars 2.0 OR have to work more than 4 hours, every single day.
By this time, it’s 4:50PM, so I am late (I was supposed to be downstairs cooking by 430, had to switch the time a little to allot for a more productive work time)
And here I am 4:50PM stressed about needing to work...UGH
We had decided to have leftovers for dinner and I almost ate really quick (NOT as a family) and then went back to work.
But I could hear my ING screaming at me to eat as a family and that was what was most important.
So that’s what I did – We warmed up leftovers, I poured a glass of wine, Daniel did a funny prayer and we talked about our favorite part of our days.
During dinner my ING said to me…
“THIS IS WHAT IT’S ALL ABOUT, THIS IS WHY YOU DO WHAT YOU DO, FOR CONNECTION WITH YOUR FAMILY, NOT TO WORK YOUR ASS OFF 14 HOURS A DAY TO GET YOUR WORK DONE”
I looked over at Daniel and said that exact thing, told him that neither of us would be going back to work, that we were going to play our family game and I was going to get in the bath.
(We will have to talk about the bath another time because that’s a whole email all in itself), but it was AMAZING! The best bath that I have ever taken in my life AND one of the best days I have had in months.
WHY?
Because I listened to my ING and told my ego to shut-up
Your ego is the voice inside your head that’s saying things like…
- You can’t live the life you love because you have a ton of stuff to do for work, if you only worked 4 hours a day you would NEVER get it done in time.
It’s that voice inside YOUR head, filling you full of negative crap and holding you back from being happy!
It’s that voice inside your head that is making a false reality of things that you feel you have to do.
It’s that feeling in your body when you are overwhelmed, stressed and feeling like you need to do even more.
And the only way to take charge, is to TELL YOUR EGO TO SHUT-UP
Then ask your ING to guide you with these example questions…
- "Whom should I turn to for help?"
- "What can I do to solve my ___ problem?"
- "How can I ___?"
And most importantly, LISTEN for the answer(s) throughout your day!
These could be feelings, thoughts, actual voices you hear in your head or it could come in the form of someone saying something to you about what you asked for guidance on, giving you your answer.
Here’s what I know…
I had one of the best days of my life the other day because when my ego started “TRYING” to hold me down, I told it to shut-up and I looked within myself to hear what my ING was telling me to do.
When I found the first step to my answer, I did it AND it was the BEST decision I could’ve made.
Oh & guess what?
Not only did I have the most OUTSTANDING day…
This email came out of it (which was something on my long list of accomplishments).
See, so in reality, when you do less, you do more!
I get more done in 4 hours a day then I ever did working 14 …
How’s that for mind boggling?
There you have it, it’s up to you!
Cheers to you, following your ING
